How High Quality Borehole Water Purifiers Work
Are you in the market for a high quality borehole water purifier? Considering that there are different varieties and the fact that many people might not know what to look for, we have prepared a few guidelines to help you choose the best quality borehole water purifiers in the market.
What is water purification?
Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids, and gases from water fit for specific purposes like: human consumption (purified and disinfected drinking water), medical, pharmacological, chemical, and/or industrial applications.
Why should you always go for a high quality borehole water purifier
Quality of water is assured
With a high quality borehole water purifier, you can rest assured that the quality of the water it produces is of high quality in terms of purification. It’s able to purify as much as 99.9% of impurities.
Long service
A good quality purifier will serve you for a long time without breaking down. This is because they are usually made of high quality materials and components.
Less maintenance cost
Since the machine is of high quality, there will be less maintenance because it doesn’t break down easily and the components also go for long without needing replacement.
How high quality borehole water purifiers work
Water filters use two different techniques to remove dirt. Physical filtration and chemical filtration.
Physical filtration uses a filter with a sieve with a thin gauze or a very fine textile membrane to remove larger impurities.
Chemical filtration on the other hand, involves passing water through an active material that removes impurities chemically as they pass through.
There are different types of water filtration processes such as Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration (RO), Ultra Filtration (UF) and Ultra Violet disinfection (UV).
Reverse Osmosis
Reverse Osmosis system involves passage of water or other solvents through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane blocks the dissolved solutes such as ions, pesticides, micro-organisms and other chemicals that contaminate the water. This filtration process is one of the most effective methods of water purification. It is also very good in desalination (the process of removing salt) of seawater.
However reverse osmosis is not good at removing bacteria and at times can waste a lot of water like four or five liters for every liter they produce.
Ultra Violet filtration
Ultra Violet filtration usually involves use of a UV lamp. The UV lamp produces UV-C rays that penetrate into the body of pathogens and destroys them. The UV rays modify the DNA of the pathogens in such a way that they cannot multiply. These rays have the ability to kill 99.9% of the microorganisms.
Ultrafiltration
Ultrafiltration process uses hydrostatic pressure to force water through a semi-permeable membrane. This semi-permeable membrane has the ability to filter bacteria and different types of microorganisms. It’s also able to remove bad odour in the water. Ultrafiltration removes colloids, bacteria, pathogens and other molecules that are bigger in size than the size of the pores in the semi-permeable membrane.
How to know the best quality borehole water purifier
At times it’s not easy to know which is the best borehole water purifier because they operate differently depending with the source of water. However a good purifier uses more than one filtration mechanism to help counter for where the other one falls short. Therefore when choosing a borehole water purifier check if it has the ability to use more than one filtration mechanism. This will help you get quality drinking water for your household.
